Voyages of the Sailing Vessel SeaSpace
Brandon and Kathy Jones
Latest Log - April 2005
|On Thursday, May 15, 2003 the sale of my house closed.
Two days later I learned that an IP 420 that we had
been considering had come back on the market - its
sale had fallen through. By the following Thursday I had made
an offer on the boat. Within a week we agreed on a price, subject
to inspection of the boat.
So even though the purchase of a cruising sail boat had been under consideration for two years, the agreement to purchase took only two weeks. Kathy had always said "when the time is right, the boat will be there".
Next "all" we had to do was to sail the boat back to Houston from Mobile, Alabama and get it (and us) ready to go cruising.
Kathy and I hope that these pages will allow you to join us on our wonderful (and often scary and stressful) adventure aboard s/v SeaSpace.

As I update this journal in May of 2005, our travels aboard SeaSpace are over and we are preparing her for sale. Are we glad that we took the two years to find out if we would like the cruising life long term? Yes, we feel that we learned a lot and saw places and had experiences that would not have been possible any other way. However, we decided that for us living on our own boat full time is not the most enjoyable way to see the places that we want to see.
We hope that the logs convey some of what we saw and experienced.
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by
the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So
throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
