- - - - - - - Here are our major trips for 2011:
In addition to these major trips, we visited friends and relatives and they came to Austin for visits. Our first big trip of the year was the tour of southern South America - Chile, Argentina and Brazil. Click here to read about that trip and see some of the pictures. We went to San Antonio for grandson Henry's third birthday party in February. Here are some pictures with Henry and Tess in them. And here are some with Alex and Chloe in them. In March, we went to Beaver Creek, Colorado for our annual ski trip. Kathy visited her daughter Holly in San Francisco after spending a few days with the skiers in Beaver Creek. In early May Kathy and a friend went to Spain and Italy and Brandon went to the Outer Banks for a photography workshop. In late May we both went to Fiji for a week of Scuba diving. In June we did some local exploring - we went downtown on a Saturday evening to take pictures of the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue at dusk. Here are some of the pictures. In July we went to Washington, D.C. for granddaughter Charlotte's baptism. In early August we toured the Canadian Rockies Canadian Rockies with 3 other couples. In late August we went to a week long photography workshop in the San Juan Islands of Washington state. The journal from that trip is here. In late September, we went to Memphis for Brandon's 50 year high school reunion. And while doing all of those things, Kathy did computer work for Special Olympics and Unity Church and I was the webmaster for the Austin Newcomers Club. Since July I have been editing their monthly newsletter. A weather note: the picture at the top of the page shows the snow in February; when I edited this page in late September, we had not quite finished experiencing weeks of 100 degree plus heat (over 80 days) - the hottest, driest summer ever. |
